User Location Interpretation Based on Location Data

The topic of this thesis is to investigate the problem of processing user location data with the aim of mining semantically interesting places. Geolocation data represents great potential for advertising systems, recommending regional news, reaching users for targeted advertising, suggesting popular locations, location-based suggestions, and much more. This work explores key principles in geolocation data acquisition, processing and interpretation. The thesis further investigates the feasibility and challenges involved in extracting a user's home and work location from raw GPS data collected from GPS-enabled devices. Additionally, it explains the need for semantic enrichment of users' locations. The main challenges discussed include identification of stops from GPS traces, identifying locations with a higher level of significance for users, extracting visited places and their semantic enrichment and interpretation using current map bases.

Analýza služeb založených na pozici a jejich integrace v oblasti turismu

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou služeb založených na pozici poskytovaných přes mobilní zařízení a jejich integrací v oblasti turismu. Východisky práce je definice termínu LBS, stručný popis a historie technologií využívaných těmito službami a přehled současného stavu trhu mobilních služeb založených na pozici. Hlavním cílem práce je návrh LBS aplikace pro využití v oblasti turismu a zjistit jaké součásti aplikace čeští zákazníci nejvíce využijí v závislosti na cíli jejich cesty. Tohoto bylo dosaženo pomocí vlastního dotazníkového průzkumu a porovnáním s již existujícími studiemi zabývající se touto problematikou. Tato analýza je největším přínosem této práce.

Dynamization of spatial data using location-based services: Tourist potential of industrial heritage

The paper deals with industrial heritage and its potential in tourism. Although the post-industrial landscape is an integral part of all the countries that went through a period of de-industrialization and economic transformation, presentation and publicity of valuable industrial monuments that are linked with post-industrial landscape in many cases are not fully utilized. This paper aims to acquaint readers with a possibility of transformation of data on industrial objects into augmented reality, while using location-based services. The final result is the web-based platform allowing easy data transformation. The paper has thus largely methodological-application character. The outcomes of the testing phase indicate that information about the objects do have their limits, but respecting them brings their effective performance in augmented reality.
